On December 18, 2014, on the anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Niger, the President of Niger, Mahamadou Issoufou and Vincent Bolloré launched the first 140 km-long rail line built by the Bolloré Group, between Niamey and Dosso.
The head of state and his entire government, along with many Nigerien business leaders have welcomed the progress of this extraordinary project. The Bolloré Group teams were able to build a rail line in less than eight months, a first in Niger. More than 800 Nigeriens work every day, directly or indirectly, on the project.
“Our group has, for the first time in Niger, undertaken a project expected for decades. We can only welcome the current progress of this huge 140 km-long project between Niamey and Dosso. It is a feat for the Nigerien teams, who never built a rail line before.”
Vincent Bolloré, CEO of the Bolloré Group
Once completed, this line will be connected to the long-awaited West African rail Loop: 2700 km of track to connect the political and economic capitals of Cotonou, Niamey, Ouagadougou, Abidjan, and Lomé.
