On July 20th, at the train station of Niamey, the Bolloré Group, through its subsidiary Blueline Niger, took delivery of two powerful locomotives, which will only be used for testing at this stage of the construction of the railway.
The CC 33000 models were delivered in presence of the Minister of Equipment, H.E. Ibrahima Nomao, the Director of Railway Infrastructures of Niger, H.E. Mr. Diakité Daouda, and the Director and CEO of the Bolloré Group, Mr. Joël Broux.
They can tow up to 1700 tons each, at an estimated commercial speed of about 80 kph. These locomotives will enable the Blueline Niger teams, to make all final adjustments to the railway, through various tests. The Bolloré Group will also use this equipment to set up a “skills transfer” program through which Nigerien employees will be initiated to different railroad jobs.
In a previous visit that took place two weeks earlier, the Minister of Equipment, H.E. Ibrahima Nomao, was very pleased with the progress of the project. According to the minister, given the current the pace, the first segment between Niamey and Dosso, should be completed in a matter of months.
