How does information and communications technology impact economic development in the Dosso region?
This important question was at the center intensive discussions held May 15-16, by software developers and other aficionados, during a two-day contest held at the Bluezone in Dosso.
The hackathon held by the Blueincubator-CIPMEN was aimed at gathering software developers from diverse backgrounds for 2 days, in an attempt to help develop applications that could improve the daily lives of local residents of the region.
Participating to the hackathon were developers from Mali, Burkina Faso, Togo, Senegal, and Morocco, whose goal was to produce an application that would address local issues.
Team ‘Ligne Ouest’ developed one of the major applications during the contest. The application provides travelers with real time information and access to multiple services, making the train journey more enjoyable.
Through this application, travelers can not only make reservations and purchase tickets using their mobile devices, but also access important information such as travel time, refreshment stations, and scheduled stops.
